The Northwest Suburban Bar Association is dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community by inspiring excellence in the practice of law. It is our goal to have a strong community presence by providing quality programs and services to the people of the 3rd Municipal District.

The Northwest Suburban Bar Association relies heavily on our membership to help us fulfill our commitment to our community.  Members of our Association volunteer to bring the following programs and services to the people of the Third Municipal District:

Court Facilitators:
The Court Facilitator program is unique to the Third Municipal District. The NWSBA provides volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. until noon to assist the Domestic Relations judges.

Paternity Court Facilitators:
Paternity Court Facilitators volunteer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to assist the Paternity Call.

Pro Se Desk:
The Pro Se Desk is a volunteer service provided by members of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association. It is a free service to members of our community and is designed to assist individuals with answering specific questions regarding their legal needs.  The Pro Se Desk is located on the 2nd floor, outside Room 206. Volunteers are available on Fridays from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Discussions are limited to 15 minutes per person.

The NWSBA has strong ties to the community that we serve. In addition to the programs noted above, we also provide volunteers for these important projects on an annual basis.

Senior Day/Law Day:
Senior Day is held annually in conjunction with District 214 to help seniors with legal questions regarding wills, trusts, estates and other matters. The NWSBA also participates in Law Day - with programs such as “Ask a Lawyer Day” and Open House at the Third Municipal District. Dates vary from year to year, and volunteers are solicited through Newsbriefs and via email.

People’s Law School:
People’s Law School is held in partnership with District 214 and the Illinois State Bar Association. Members of the NWSBA offer free classes at John Hersey High School on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings during the months of February, March and April. Click here for information on scheduled dates and offerings.

The High School Mock Trial Invitational:
The NWSBA sponsors a mock trial tournament for area high school students. Judges and members of the NWSBA volunteer their time to assist students as they explore and learn about the judicial process. To find out more about this great program, go to the Foundation page found under the "About the NWSBA" section of our website

Judicial Screening:
Judicial candidates are investigated, screened and evaluated by a volunteer committee of NWSBA members.

The NWSBA also supports local students and service agencies through gifting and scholarship.

Scholarships:
Each year the Foundation provides the “Honorable Timothy C. Evans Scholarship” and the “NWSBA Foundation Academic Scholarship” to local law school students.

Holiday Assistance Program:
Each year the NWSBA collects funds from our membership to support a local food pantry or service agency during the holiday season.
