Judicial Evaluations Complete

The Northwest Suburban Bar Association (“NWSBA”), which is a 48 year old local bar association, recently completed evaluation of candidates for judicial office in Cook County for the February 2008 Primary Election.

The candidates were evaluated on the basis of past trial performance, legal ability, integrity, knowledge of the law, judicial temperament, impartiality and decisiveness.  No consideration was given either for the political affiliation of a candidate or the fact that a candidate may or may not be opposed by another candidate in the election.

Judicial candidates were investigated and interviewed by the Judicial Screening Committee.  The recommendations of the committee for each judicial candidate for the office sought are listed below under the following rating code: HR = Highly Recommended, R = Recommended, NR = Not Recommended. 

Further, of all the candidates invited to participate in the evaluation process by the NWSBA, several candidates failed to submit the required documents for evaluation and/or failed to appear before the Committee.  They were not evaluated by the NWSBA.  As a result, those candidates cannot be recommended by the Committee for election.  Their names are followed by saying Not Evaluated = NE.
